IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND
– CCIM Encourages & Equips Pastors in the majority world. We are not a Bible School.
– Certificates and Diplomas are awarded internally from within Capturing Courage Int’l Ministries.
– The Bachelor of Professional Studies is an externally awarded and recognized (not accredited) professional (not academic) degree from GULL, Global University of Lifelong Learning.
CCIM with GULL Affiliation
To enable the award of GULL’s Bachelor of Professional Studies (B Prof) (Applied Christian Ministry) Capturing Courage Int’l Ministries will integrate the following elements:
(1) Progress review reflections with peer review and facilitator feedback (as a cross-check on correct undertaking and application of CCIM’s course content). This consists of two self-review and peer observations per Module (During Modules 1-3 inclusive) for all those currently in training, using the Progress review form. Where possible, Progress reviews should be timed to align with the mid and end points of each Module, providing a total of six completed forms (750 words per form). Peer review comments to be provided by an in-training colleague, co-worker or a mature congregation member with additional comments from the course facilitator. Please see Appendix 1 for more details.
(2) A structured learning review – this provides an opportunity to review the learning journey from the outset (Module 1) to the conclusion (Module 3). GULL’s Learning summary form uses a question-based format to enable participants to reflect on the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ of the learning journey and the numerous sources of learning (e.g. about self, from others and from community related outputs). The guide length is 1500 to 2000 words for all those currently in training and 2000 to 2500 words for those who have already completed the entire course and received their CCIM Diploma – there are two additional questions for this group to complete. Please see Appendix 2.
Note: The Learning summary form should ideally integrate with the CCIM-designed student review of the course and its 15 core learning outcomes.
GULL’s work is based on the philosophy of action learning that places emphasis and value on the importance of personal reflection and shared learning throughout the learning cycle (Act – Reflect – Review – Improve). To maximize support and participation, it is suggested that peer reviewing could be conducted by a combination of in-training colleagues, co-workers and mature congregation members. Peer reviewing is a requirement for those currently in training but not for those who have successfully completed CCIM’s Diploma (Transformational Leadership).
PROGRESS REVIEW FORM
(to be submitted both mid-way and end-point of each module)
Overview question: What are you learning as you apply the Module?
The Progress review form provides an opportunity to reflect on helping others – the process and approach deployed, its relative effectiveness, alternative courses of action and the steps required. The form has five self-completion sections and additionally one section for peer reviewer comments and one for course facilitator (or trainer) comments. The guide length is 750 words per completed form so that there is sufficient detail for review, feedback and corrective action (as needed)
(1) Reflecting on course applications, what did you do? (course participant to add comments)
What action did you take and what resources did you use? What were the outcomes? Have you addressed any problems or challenges arising? What happens next?
(2) What went well and why? (course participant to add comments)
Comment here on all aspects of the activities you are working on (e.g. purpose, plan, progress, outcomes).
(3) What didn’t go well and why? (course participant to add comments)
Comment here on all aspects of the activities you are working on (e.g. purpose, plan, progress, outcomes).
(4) What could I have done differently and how? (course participant to add comments)
Comment here on all aspects of the activities you are working on (e.g. purpose, plan, progress, outcomes).
(5) What did I learn, how will my learning help others and what do I need to work on next?
Comment here on your personal learning outcomes and on the benefits for others, including those participating in the activities that you are facilitating.
Peer reviewer written comments (by the person observing a session led by the course participant) with the date of the session observed. The purpose of peer reviewing is to encourage shared learning. Peer review comments should be provided by someone who’s opinion you respect. Ask them to comment on the relative effectiveness of the activity observed for your own personal and professional development and on the outcomes and benefits for others.
Peer Review: encouraging shared learning and comment on the effectiveness of, 1), observed activity, 2). Personal and professional development, 3). Outcomes and benefits for others.
Course facilitator written comments and feedback on progress with the date when the feedback comments were written. A written comment should be included after completing the form. Ideally the written comment should be related to a face-to-face discussion about the outcomes.
STRUCTURED LEARNING REVIEW
(to be completed and submitted at the end of the course after completing all modules and the final testing and assessment based on our core learning outcomes)
A structured learning review – this provides an opportunity to review the learning journey from the outset (Module 1) to the conclusion (Module 3).
GULL’s Learning summary form uses a question-based format to enable participants to reflect on the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ of their learning journey and the numerous sources of learning (e.g. about self, from others and from community related outputs). The form has five self-completion sections and additionally one section for peer reviewer comments and one for course facilitator (or trainer) comments.
